Substance abuse in WHO AFRO

Alcohol, Tobacco and other Drug related problems in Africa are becoming more and more a Public Health concern. WHO AFRO states that it is therefore very important to look for better policies and strategies to face the issue.

The approach in WHO AFRO is promotion of healthy behavior and lifestyles. The community based approach with the involvement of leaders, religious  leaders, NGOs and Youth Organizations , is a strategy to be considered.   Unfortunately the reality shows that there is a lack of prioritization of this important issue in the Member States.
